Silver Bells

I heard some Holiday-ish tunes in Starbucks this morning and it put me in mind of Child’s Play. Odd, you say. Well, let me ’splain. Child’s Play is a charity run by the lads at Penny Arcade. While Penny Arcade is one of the funniest, most insider-y, foul mouthed, and hilariously cruel gaming sites on the intertubes, Child’s Play is their charity that benefits kids in hospitals. Gabe and Tycho started the site in 2003 in response to some heavy media criticism of gamers. Last year the charity gave $1.3 million dollars worth of video games, systems, and cash to children’s wards and children’s hospitals. You can visit the site here.

I don’t consider myself much of a charity guy but I give monies to this charity every year. They’ll take everything from game systems ordered from Amazon to cash from paypal. It’ll make you feel better. Really. And it’ll help sick kids. Do it.
