It’s Comcastic!

January 9, 2008

A group of legal scholars and angry Comcast customers has asked the FCC to fine that wonderful company a significant amount for “discriminating” between data types. For quite a while, Comcast has been, in essence, slowing P2P and Bittorrent traffic to a crawl. This, it would appear, is against current FCC regulations. The original story is that the legal request was for a total fine of somewhere near $200,000. Now it comes to light that the groups are asking the FCC to sue Comcast $200,000 PER CUSTOMER. This would result in a fine to Comast well over a trillion dollars. Now I’m sure this would never happen, but…well…Comcast is pretty evil so I personally hope they get fined into oblivion.
