And A Fine Republic It Is

April 24, 2008

A local bloggeur, Ryan Jerz, recently took a trip to the Republic of Molossia. Molossia is located close to Reno, oddly enough. Link

I love niche-y stuff, and I love people that approach oddness with a passion, with fervency and desire. Micronations are fascinating, and Molossia more so than most. I, too, would love to visit this fine country and it’s devoted ruler, His Excellency Kevin Baugh.

I have spent nearly 45 minutes touring Molossia online now. It seems robust and noble. I wonder if the king would ever set up an embassy in Reno?

@Crispy King, doubtful, as it would require a staffer, and there aren’t many of those to go around in Molossia.

The place was super cool, and His Excellency was also really cool. What a neat guy to both do that and then have us out there for a tour We would have shot a bunch of video with interviews but the wind would have killed all the sound, so the photos were simply better.

One of the coolest parts of the trip was when he rolled out the souvenirs. We got Molossian cash and passports. Sweet.

Brilliant! Now that’s taking a silly idea to an entirely new level!

    Much respect!

I love it! There is a guy on the coast of Sweden who has built his own country and claims to be sovereign. I will have to find out the name…

I will visit Molossian next chance I get.

    C-
